As the youth of today, it is easy to feel disconnected or overshadowed in a church setting. With older generations often taking the lead and years of wisdom behind them, young people may question their role and significance within the church community. However, it is essential to recognize that the relevance of youths in church cannot be underestimated. In fact, the Bible provides us with several references that highlight the importance of young people in the church.

One of the well-known verses that emphasizes the role of youths in the church is found in 1 Timothy 4:12 which states, "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity." This verse reminds us that age is not a determining factor when it comes to making a positive impact in the church. Instead, young individuals are encouraged to be role models through their actions and demeanor, demonstrating love, faith, and purity to those around them.

Another powerful reference can be found in Psalm 71:17-18 where it says, "Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds. Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come." Here, we see the importance of the passing down of faith from one generation to the next. As youths, we have the opportunity to learn from our elders and carry on the legacy of proclaiming God's power and mighty acts to future generations.

To be relevant in your church as a youth, it is crucial to actively participate in various church activities. Whether it is attending worship services, joining small groups,  participating in CCC Youths Conferences, or volunteering for community outreach, getting involved allows young individuals to contribute and make a difference within the church community. In doing so, youths can develop their God-given talents and discover their unique purpose.

Additionally, it is important to seek wisdom and mentorship from older, more experienced church members.

Proverbs 13:20 advises, "Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm." By connecting with individuals who have walked the path of faith for longer, young people can gain valuable insights and guidance as they navigate their own spiritual journey.

Furthermore, prayer and studying the Bible are essential for staying rooted in faith and remaining relevant in the church as a youth. Psalm 119:9-11 states, "How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." Regularly spending time seeking God's will through prayer and studying Scripture helps to establish a strong foundation for growth and relevance within the church.

In conclusion, the relevance of youths in church should never be underestimated. As young individuals, we can set an example, pass down faith to future generations, actively participate in church activities, seek wisdom from older members, and diligently study the Bible to stay rooted in our faith. By doing so, we not only contribute to the church community but also fulfill our purpose in spreading God's love and proclaiming His marvelous deeds. Let us embrace the importance of young people in the church and confidently step forward in making a lasting impact.
